Gambia Gymnastics

Through Alagie, a Gambian living in the Netherlands who supports several projects in and for The Gambia, we came into contact with the Gambia Gymnastics Organization. This young foundation, run entirely by local volunteers, aims to introduce Gambian schoolchildren to gymnastics and promote the sport in schools. There is a severe shortage of proper gymnastics equipment in The Gambia; schools and clubs have to make do with little or nothing. With this donation, they will finally have access to suitable equipment, and with it the opportunity to truly get gymnastics off the ground. Together with the local foundation, we agree in advance which equipment fits local policy, so that we can select and donate the right gymnastics equipment from our stock as precisely as possible. We are also exploring the possibility of having Dutch volunteers train local teachers, so they learn to use the equipment properly and can guide the children safely and responsibly.

Help us get the container to The Gambia

As a foundation, we already have the gymnastics equipment available. What we still need is funding for transport: shipping the container to The Gambia costs €6,000 in total. Every contribution, big or small, helps get this equipment to the children in The Gambia. You can donate by adding an item to the container below, for example a vaulting box for €50. That way, you can watch the container fill up step by step until it is ready to depart.
