About this project
Thanks to a private initiative in the Netherlands and our collaboration with the non-profit organization When We Band Together, play equipment and 300 athletics mats were delivered to Moria refugee camp on Lesbos.
It was an emotional moment for our contact Tirza and our coordinator Stefan when she sent a video showing how the mats were being used. They were used for playing, eating, and sleeping.
This was a truly moving and remarkable project. We witnessed adults and children using the mats in extremely poor conditions at a chaotic refugee camp. Our play equipment was gratefully received, and we saw children playing.
It was heartwarming and emotional to see them enjoying play despite such harsh circumstances.
Tirza sent me a video of people on our mats. We were both deeply moved seeing those happy faces.
